About The Creators & The Wright House

Our Next Chapter Begins Here
Welcome to The Wright House Mercantile, an online interior store based out of Paris Texas! Davis Burkhardt & Matthew Leonard visited The Wright House, a historical landmark, back in March of 2022 and met Teresa Wright & her son, whom she and her family were the original owners. Having always dreamed of owning a Queen Anne historic home, Davis & his partner Matthew took a leap of faith and made a purchase of a lifetime! The mercantile idea came after the house purchase. George Washington Wright had Mercantile business when he donated his land and founded this great town of Paris Texas. Having always wanted to own a business, Davis and Matthew decided a Mercantile was the best idea. They are trying to bring back history to the house, and to the town dating back to its founding days! Davis and Matthew welcome you all to come explore the happenings at both The Wright House & The Wright House Mercantile!

A Brief History...

George W. Wright was born in 1809 in Tennessee and was one of 5 children of his parents. He served in the military and was also very active in politics. He also was heavily involved in Real Estate deals most of his life, and also owned a mercantile business. In 1844, he donated 50 acres of his land to have a county seat in Lamar County. He had three wives, and died in 1877.

Edgar Wright was born on May 1st, 1874. He attended the State Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1892! He setup his office for his new career on the second floor of "The Vault" Building in Downtown Paris Texas. He and his wife Annie Roberts Wright built their dream home in 1906, 'The Wedding Cake House', and it has been in the Wright family ever since!
Teresa Wright was born in April of 1947, a World War Two baby boomer! After graduating high school, she traveled across Europe and studied Spanish literature at the University of Madrid in Spain. She then graduated in 1967 from Texas Tech University with a double major in English & Spanish! She was in the military also, as many Wrights have been. She was a successful lawyer and businesswoman, once owning the Magnolia House BNB. She now lives with her son and his family out east.
